The National Livestock Identification Association began in April 1996. Since that date, members that have similar business interests have come together and communicated at meetings.
Members consist of manufacturers, distributers, importers and designers of livestock identification devices and systems. Current members products and services include branding irons, eartags, earmarking pliers, radio frequency I.D. devices and systems, tail tags and tattoo equipment.
The benefits of being a NLIDA member include the following:
- Members can discuss industry plans as a whole and lobby industry and government groups.
- Government departments and industry groups can make contact with NLIDA to distribute and request information at a national and state level.
- NLIDA has a representative in each state of Australia to attend meetings on behalf of the association and provide minutes and feedback to all members.
- Members workshop and share knowledge of the changing industry requirements to enable manufacturers to produce suitable devices and equipment.
NLIDA has an AGM where members socialise, choose an executive and workshop with government and industry representatives. Other meetings have been called as and when required to address specific issues, but the association is progressively moving towards online meetings, discussions and polls rather than physical meetings.
If you or your company is a provider of livestock identification devices or systems in Australia or New Zealand, you should apply for membership of NLIDA. There is a joining fee of $200 and a membership fee of $300.00 to be paid anually. To apply:
